Do you know who originated that quote? Not made it famous, but originated it? Writer and cartoonist Allen Saunders. A variation of the quote, “Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans,” was published in Reader’s Digest in January 1957. John Lennon just made it famous.
And that’s what’s been happening with me of late. Life. I’ve been incredibly busy with work, repairs to our house (AC died yesterday on hottest day of the year so far), writing (several new stories I’m working on) and getting my notes together for a class I’m teaching the first week of July to my local RWA group (a class on editing your work before submission).
Life. It’s a wonderful thing, but sometimes it can overwhelm you. When that happens, you need to take a step back and look at things to see what you can change for the better. For me, that was holding off on the 15 minute challenges for a bit. Although they’re short, they do take me a lot of time to come up with since I check to make sure I’m not repeating something–it happens, but I try not to let it happen too often.
Anyway, I will get back to them eventually, but for now… I need to make other things my priority. Please bear with me while I live my life.
And I hope you go out and live yours to the fullest.
